ford to chevy PCM swap

FULL-THROTTLE

New member
Hello,

I just began a restoration of a 1986 supra sunsetter, the block is cracked so while I am removing the engine I want to do a swap to a chevy 350. I have never seperated a direct drive trans from an engine so:
How does the engine connect to the transmission, (i understand the flywheel is bolted to the crank and the bellhousing connects to the engine, but how does the engine drive the transmission?) If you have any pics it would help also.

Thank You,

Fran

Hi Fran. There are six bolts that attach the transmission to the bell housing. As you can see in the picture the input shaft slides into a flex plate attached to the flyweel. However, it would be much simpler to remove the coupler bolts separating the transmission from the propeller shaft and service it all out of the boat. Will you be purchasing a complete new bobtail engine? There are also special front mounts available that allow to place the foot mounts in the same exact location.
