Force 120 1995 engine has been running poorly at heavy load.
I pulled the head and I'm posting a picture of it.

Does not seem to have the correct amount of power.. at full load it's occasionally missing a cylinder.

I originally had 123, 150,150,150psi
I replaced the head gasket
Now i have 143,155,166,157psi

Still missing at hard power up.

Can anyone give me a diagnosis???
stuck rings possibly?
What's causing the extra carbon recycle exhaust past the rings possibly?

Top cyl. could be the problem??
The extra carbon shouldn't be there..
Compression: #1 is still a bit low.
Possible plug not firing and when it does it burns the fuel and leaves the carbon build up(maybe)??
I'd start with testing the stator then the trigger. outboardignition.com has test procedures for your motor.
1995 is when they went to Mercury ignition, the connections: undo them one at a time, make sure they're clean and if they need clean the contact and use dialectric grease .
Another site for tests. Good luck.

Explain the ----" Recycle exhaust past rings " -----Possibility.------Not sure I understand how that could happen.

Powerhead pulled. Exhaust manifold removed. (Fyi. Exhaust manifold on a sportjet is a very interesting beast)

It appears that the exhaust manifold has been compromised. As shown by the area circled in yellow.

This part is very expensive I have it on order now.

Question now is would this create water signs in JUST cylinder number 2 and a cyl miss at high rpm?

Could water be sucked out of the water jacket in the exhaust area, then get pulled into the cylinders? (water pushing backwards into running engine???).

I understand that a two-cycle engine doesn’t completely clear the cylinder of combusted fumes but I didn’t think they would find their way back in.. much less find their way back in mixed with water?
