"I am not getting spark to the sparkplugs, I checked the stator and the switch box and the readings are OK. The manual says to check the red wire on the converter box, when I do I don't get any readings on my meter. I replaced the converter box and still the same problem."

"tony,

a few years ago i had the same problem. The Magneto wire had shorted at the terminal block. A grounded magneto is just like turning off the ignition.

"I have 1974 chrysler outboard 85 hp when I am on the water and I start my boat when I proceed to go up river full throttle it dies in the water I proceed to start it and it does not start after a couple of minutes it may start up or not the coil has been replaced carbs are ok what is wrong with it? I have a 1989 Force 150hp engi

I have a 1989 Force 150hp engine . Yesterday I took the boat for a ride and after about a hour of riding at about 3/4 speed engine started to Kill and sputter! Great feeling! I pulled throttle back until engine seemed to run smooth again almost Idle and limped home! If I tried to speed it up at all it would want to kill! Help! From the reading I have done it sounds like high speed on stator! Can this be tested with a normal digital vom or do I need a special one I have read about the use of a DVA meter?

Thanks!
Bill
