"My 1988 Force 15 HP (with extra long extension) starts and runs fine...except when I am underway, the boat moves slower than the RPM's would have me believe. The motor also tends to bog down if I am in heavy waves and riding up a wave. To get thru a lumpy sea, I back the throttle down to 50% and this helps keep the motor running.
Two years ago, when full throttle the boat would do about 6-7 knots, now full throttle only produces about 2 knots. If there is a headwind, I barely move. Does anyone have any suggestions. The motor has been very good and reliable for 20 year old motor!
Thank you."

Spun hub?? Is this something I can repair? I am handy, but have little to no experience opening up an outboard. Thanks again..."

"Now I'm really puzzled because I had the prop replaced just last spring. The RPM and speed was fine in the early part of the summer and became progressively worse over the season. Of course, some of the issue was minor growth on the hulls, but it was really slow by the time I hauled the boat in November. Does this sound like a spun hub going, or is it something else like gunk in the carb?"
