Force 125 with 25" shaft versus 20

I recently bought a Force 125HP engine for my girlfriends Bayliner and didn't think about the shaft length. The old motor was a short shaft and this motor is the longer shaft. I didn't think about it until I bolted it on and then noticed the longer shaft. The transom on this boat takes a 20" shaft and now it has a 25" shaft motor on it. Now my question is how it will affect the operation of the boat. What can I expect with the longer shaft? Will it really affect the way the boat drives, handles, planes, etc... or will everything be ok I just have a longer shaft motor.

You won't get the performance the right motor would give.Too much sticking under the boat.Too much drag.
It won't turn right.
It will work just not good.J

Makes sense... Thanks for the reply. We will just have to see what happens when I get it out in the water...
