" Specifics: 17'6" Sylvan, 120 Force, Quicksilver Shifter, year 96. Problem: Boat ran fine, put it in neutral, shut it off. When I started it, it started fine. When I put it in gear all that happened is the engine rpm's increased and wasn't in gear. It doesn't appear that the fast idol button was stuck in. One other note: It won't go into reverse. When I move the shifter while looking at the linkage, the linkage in forward motion appears to have full range. The linkage in reverse though it doesn't move, appears to be connected because eventhough you cannot move it, the linkage at the engine, moves slightly as you pull backwards. Any all all help would be greatly appreciated. If more details are needed, please advise. "

"Larry,

Make sure the shift

"Larry,

Make sure the shift linkage is connected properly. You can see where the upper shift rod connects to the lower shift rod. This is at the front of the gearcase, just above the seam between the lower unit and mid-section. See if the lower shift rod moves when you put the handle in forward and reverse.

Check the prop. You may have a worn hub.

" Tony thanks for the help, it

" Tony thanks for the help, it has been awhile, since I came to the sight, because I ended up taking it in. However, for those that are interested, it turned out to be real simple. It was a broken reverse cable. It was broke a few inches from where it connected to the motor. Again, thank you. "
