The magnets on flywheel on my mercury elpto
115 hp 1998 model came loose
and jammed against stator. Got hold of a
second hand flywheel, but when installed it did not properly engage the
starter. The seller of flywheel said that that outer diameter of the flywheel could differ but internal and magnets where the same. Changed spinner on starter and cranked engine. No start and when checking the there was only spark on cyl 1 and 2. Changed the stator and trigger, and later the switch box. Still only spark on number 1 and 2. Question now is. Could the
replacement Flywheel be the wrong one. It fit the crank shaft and had clearance
between magnets and stator.
