You could use a Flywheel remover and remove it. AutoZone rents one if the flywheel has bolt holes in it. If not you will have to buy one with arms.

"Sorry, 1996 48 hp johnson. I have tried a small puller and I bent it. It does not look like corrosion is present in the area
I did try to put a little penetrating oil on the area and I plan to let it sit overnight. My next step is to try a puller from the auto parts store. can I try anything else...tapping etc? or will I do more dammage"

"Use a puller that incorporates bolts that will screw into the three threaded holes that surround the crankshaft. Tighten the center spindle down as tight as you can possibly get it.

Using a large screwdriver or tool of your choice, apply a slight upward pressure to the bottom of the flywheel.

Now, belt that center puller spindle with a big hammer. That should shock the flywheel loose.

Be sure to torque the flywheel nut to factory specifications when reassembling. Anything less will resault in a sheared flywheel key along with damage to the flywheel and crankshaft tapers."
