"Hi there!

T-Stat is the Thermostat. Only opens up once water in the powerhead is warm enough,, similar to your motor car system. Could take up to a minute, depending on prevalent temp. Most motors will still pee thru tell-tale to show that water is present whilst running.

Hope this helps?

Regards from a wet and wintery Johannesburg in South Africa!

"Clymer also says something interesting that I wasn't aware of, something along the lines of "tilt motor forware until the prop is out of the water to ensure water doesn't travel up thru lower unit"?? I don't have the book in front of me but this sounded awfull strange to me since there is a tilt switch that should turn the motor off. On top of that, what water travels up the lower unit other than what goes into the water intake vent. When I return to the dock I usually tilt the motor up, put on the muffs, lower the motor with the freshwater on and run at 1500 RPM's for about 5 minutes. After this I turn off the motor and leave it raised up while remaining at the dock.

Tell me this is the correct procedure...Please!"
