Installed a flush adaptor side

Installed a flush adaptor side plate on 800 Stringer - 1985.
I do not have instructions on flushing procedure.
Can this be used as the ONLY source of water or does the lower unit ALSO require a water hook-up before turning on engine?

just hook the hose up and turn

just hook the hose up and turn it on - it supplies water down to the impeller so you do not need to supply any other water
