We bought this little used fishing boat mid summer, being working very well, then yesterday fuel was spitting out the primer hole, I removed carb and ordered a new primer diaphragm/carb kit and also noticed that someone before installed the float upside down, So before I re-install the carb after I receive my kit I'd sure like to make sure the float is correct. This float is just like a donut, and floats around the pick up tube and not secured by a hinge, but pushes up on a hinged fork to seat the needle. Does anyone know what the measurement is for the float height ? OR know of a site where this information might be posted without buying an expensive shop manual. These float/carbs are common in 2 stroke mercury up to 25hp. As in the title stated motor is; 1996 Mercury Mariner 9.9hp, 2 stroke, WMC carb. I will mention that somewhere I read somewhere on the net that a measurement of 1 inch but have no way to verify that., and have no ideal where I might have read that anymore. As stated this little engine ran pretty good, but was a little rough trolling close to idle speed but been good/reliable so too speak.
