I have a simple question .When installing a fuel sending unit in a rectangular tank should the float arm be facing the rear of the tank? When I got to the boat the old def. unit was already removed. I would assume that the float would point to the rear. But you know what happens when you assume...

"The arm may 'face' either direction. The most important is that it moves freely.
If the arm faces front, the gauge may show less fuel than what is left in the tank, if facing aft, it may show more. It all depends on boat inclination."

One other thing that I find important is to initially adjust the arm to sense close-to-empty prior to it actually being "EMPTY".
IOW's, error on the side of having some remaining fuel, as apposed to accuracy when close to full.
Easy to do with a moc-up outside of the fuel tank!"
