hi i new to this game and have

hi i new to this game and have amy fuirst hurdle and i hope you can help me. I have a evinrude but im not sure what type it ran no problem 3 months ago but i had to sart it in the gear position as it would not start in nutruel. i went out to it today and tried to fire it up but no luck the propeller does not even turn when i try and crank it and before you ask i have been doing it in a barrel of water. Everything external seems to look okay what could be the problem ?? i am a trained mechanic/ engineer so any adive will be welcome.

you need to post as much information as possible to get the best results.

look for a serial # and or model # on the transom mounting brackets. you can also look for the welsh plug , its about the size of a quarter and usually toward the top of the power head , it will have the model # most of the time.

have you checked for spark,ran a compression test, and are using good fuel?

is it electric start or pull start?

is it a manual or electric shift?

pictures will help identify it if you cannot find any #s."
