filter or check valve? Identify a part

Hoping someone will identify this part. I just boat a boat with a '92 200 2.5L EFI (XRi) Merc. I previously owned a '89 200 black max carborated. I see there's a few different items for my annual tune-up.

On the '92 efi, In the area of the inline fuel filter that my '89 had, there is an inline filter or check valve. I will attempt to attach a photo. It's smaller the fuel filter on the '89. Can anyone identify what this is and should it be replaced each season?

Thanks Jeff. I finally found it on a schematic - part of the bleed system. Do you know recommended replacement time for that filter? Hours/annually? Thanks.

Depends on way too many things. Just change it if you're worried.
