Last week, my '89 Yamaha 9.9 4-stroke ran like a top. This week, pht!
Fuel and additive are fresh - same as last week.
bulb pumps up tight.
I have to cover the intake manifold with my thumb, but it starts after a pull or two, runs for 5 seconds, then dies.
Repeat, same result.
Today, I pulled the hose beyond the filter, and squeezed the bulb - fuel spurted nicely through the filter.
I removed the pump, pushed the plunger, and it ejected the fuel that was present in the line, so I'm assuming it works fine as well.
I assume the rocker arm that activates the pump still works - can't see a reason why it wouldn't.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on why this motor won't run for more than a few seconds?
thanks in advance for any suggestions.
