"I'm powering a 1996 Carver 380 Santego with twin Crusader 454XL's. Does anyone have any info, good or bad about the FastRail Lifting System as far as reduced RPM's and subsequent fuel savings are concerned? Thanks"

I am not familiar with Fast Rail. Volvo used to make a product called Speed Rail which was a series of aluminum lifting strakes that attached to your hull. These were very effective on light, fast boats but have not been available for many years.

It sounds like someone may have revived the product."

Try www.fastrails.com I'm a FIRM believer on the "Stingray" lifting foil for outboards and I/Os having used them effectively for over 20 years -- tho' a much smaller scale. A really good lifting system for my Carver "hog" would be super."

"Yeah, that's the same product only in plastic. The original version was anodized aluminum. I always had very good results with them, albeit on smaller boats, but the concept is the same. The more lift, the less drag.

I wouldn't hesitate to try them. Let us know how they work for you."

I'll check out the "boat show pricing" They're pretty proud of them -- then there's the installation ! Don't know when the payback would be but maybe worth a try at $5/gal+
