fastrac t/t disassembly

Gentlemen, My 97 200 t/t will not stay down in reverse, otherwise it works good. Will a new seal/oring kit fix it?? I have the unit off the boat, and drained. In order to remove the bolts for the resovoir, pump assembly, and cylinder caps: will it hurt the unit or me (explosion) if I apply heat as necessary??
Thanks for your advice. Pop

I have the factory manual for the engine, but it does not go into details of rebuilding/disassembling the t/t unit. I have ordered the accessory manual, which I understand does. When it gets here I will see. If I follow your thought on the "reverse lock check valve," isn't it located in the valve body? I thought my engine manual stated the valve body was not serviceable. If it was bad, then a new valve body would have to be obtained.

Thanks for your help. Pop

Sorry, I was looking at the manual for an older -" fastrack " unit.--------------Newer ones are not the same.

Sir there is no doubt about needing the proper manual. As I have stated, I ordered the factory accessories manual, which I understand contains the information you refer to. It would be great if you would share the #of the factory that you possess, and I will make sure I get it. My factory J/E Service Manual 125c, 130, 200,225, and 250 90degree LV contains nothing about dissassembly/rebuilding of t/t systems. I stand corrected on the "not serviceable," comment, that terminology came from my Seloc manual.
One screw broke off holding the resovoir assembly. The three screws holding the valve body "assembly," do not want to budge. I do not want to ring those off either. Trying to loosen the cylinder caps broke the pins on my spanner wrench. So, I was wondering if heat would bw beneficial to break thm loose, without causinf injury to myself or the t/t assembly.
Thanks again for your time and response. Pop

Look around in your local parts houses for something they call "Fast Freeze". It comes in a can and is supposed to drop the temp of the screw to -40* so you can remove it. I usually use a map gas torch until I get pissed and then out comes Ox/Acy torch with a small tip.

Thanks. Never heard of the product, but I will get some. My safety concern is no explosions, with internal pressures in the cylinders. With the manual bleed screw out, resovoir off, and pump motor off, I should be o.k. to heat. Right?
Thanks, Pop
