Fast Idle

Started my boat today in the b

Started my boat today in the backyard for the time in six weeks. Started up fine but the idle would not go below 1200 rpm. If I pushed in choke it would drop several hundred rpm's but would come right back up. It is a 96 johnson ocean runner. I plan to run it tomorrow on the water and see how it does. Any ideas out there? Thanks

This might be something you would like to check last but possibly check your stator and rectifier like the post on the "89 XP200" by Mark Wendler at 2:11pm 1-26-09. Just an idea.
