I'm new to a 2020 F70 with 300 hrs. starts and runs good at WOT except occasionally dies without sputtering but starts immediately. It would happen once an hour but became a continuous problem where any cruise over 3200 rpm would kill it. no overheat indication.
I shorted out the deadman with, changed fuel, fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel bulb, separator filter, post LP pump filter, new HP pump and when I tested it ran at idle of 5 min and died but would not start. I dont have a fuel pressure gage or code reader at this point.
the LP pumps while cranking,
removing the HP pump from the rail I get no flow on ignition switching
I get power to the HP pump
in case the regulator has a manifold vacuum sense I don't understand I confirm there is no HP pump output while cranking
I open the vapor tank and remove the lid to test the pump and it works. the filter is clear and the tank is clean
reassemble, fill the tank and it flows to the rail on ignition.
after removing the regulator from the tank top I see the HP flow comes up to that port.
after connecting to the rail it engine pops while cranking til it pressurizes and then it will not start
The pump no longer runs after pressurinzing but it has power. I remove the regulator thinking that this shoud depressurize it but the pump does not run. the Schrader valve has no pressure behind it.
open the tank and the pump works. I test it in a bath for 10 min continuous. high flow, good pressure
Now I am looking at opening the tank for the 4th time.
Any Ideas?
does the pump have an internal pressure switch?
does it run continuously?
Is the Schrader valve the hp test port?
what are the symptoms of a regulator fail? there is no leak of the diapham but I cant exercise it valve with my breath
