Does anyone know how to test the charging sytem without the yamaha test harness. i have a 2002 F115TXRA.I am getting low voltage readings at idle and low rpms. With the engine off i am getting voltage readings any where from 12.3V to 12.7V. Any help would be appreciated since the only yamaha mechanic is 90 minutes away and only here once a month.

"I checked the voltage with a meter here's what i got.
1) Battery/motor off 12V

2) Battery/Motor idle 12.2V

3) Battery/ Motor at 2000rpm 12.7V

4) Battery/2000rpm w/electronics on 12.7V

Fuses all look good with good continuity. Next i unpluged where the charge coil plugs into the rectifier/reg brought the rpms up to 2000 and checked the plug coming from the charge coil (3 white wires)for AC voltage. i got steady readings at 44Volts AC, testing all the white wire combos. I was under the impression the AC voltage would be about 28V or so if working correctly but my mechanic said it might be a 3 phase but based on my readings he says the rectifier is not putting out enough voltage. i tend to agree. Last but not least, the last time i trolled, the voltage reading on the display was flashing and was down as low as 11.6V. The motor wants to stall in idle forward or low rpm's as well. Any thoughts."

OK

now turn that meter to a

OK

now turn that meter to a/c volts
start motor
raise it to about 1500rpm
if you see over .8 a/c volts bad rec/reg

JIT-

tried checking the AC

JIT-

tried checking the AC volts @1500rpm and there was a 0.005V reading. That's at the battery correct?
