Expansion Chamber

Are my 318's supposed to have an addidtional expansion chamber beisides the one bolted to the engine block? I have seen a few different setups with a seperate expansion chamber plummed in. I have been having someing minor overheating issues if I run the motors for a long period of time, and I am contributing this to the fact that the cooling fluid is getting hot, expanding, and coming out of the overfill vent on the motor.

Are you refering to an expansion chamber, as in part of the Heat Exchanger.... or a coolant over-flow reservoir.... aka recovery system?

Coolant expansion is to be considered normal.
It should require several engine warm-ups and cool-downs before a recovery system (or lack of) should cause any problems.

None-the-less, I think that a recovery system is important to have in place and working.
