Exhaust quiry

Just picked up a another boat, predominantly fresh water but it saw some Florida salt on limited basis. The engines are closed cooled, does salt water get all the way back to the exhaust manifold? I was going to replace the risers, should the manifolds be done as well?

its a fresh water boat now

Depends upon which 'version' of the closed cooling system you have....

If the exhaust manifolds are in the closed side (full system), they should be ok if the coolant has been maintained.

If the exhaust manifolds are in the raw side (half system), they will have a much shorter life.

Easiest check is to inspect the hoses going to & from the exhaust manifolds. On a full system, they are usually supplied coolant from the thermostat housing and they return the coolant to the heat exchanger. A block off plate separates the manifolds from the risers/elbows to keep the coolant 'in the loop'.
