"I have recently purchased a Kencraft Buxton 25, 1989 vintage, with a Chevy 305 PCM. It is full inboard with shaft and propellar , fresh water cooled with saltwater heat exchanger.
It is VERY loud. From the exhause maniflolds the pipes run straight to the stern (I think!) and I want to reduce the noise level.
I am looking for guidance on options, possibilities, and the like.

(Please recognize that I am a reformed sailor, and this is my first real power boat. I have spent a lifetime trying not to learn about marine engines and their issues.)"

"Just in Time is correct. I now know to be working on a muffler system, and my boat yard is doing so. Any additional advice would be apprecieated. Is there a downside to muffling the system (Operation, maintenance, etc.?) Thanks to all who are responding."
