exhaust manifold choices

Hey guys I am coming op on replacing my exhaust manifolds and risers in the next couple months before they fail and I need new engines as well. I am faced wit a couple options as the engine compartment in my 1973 32' luhrs has plenty of room. To replace what I have now on both engines will cost around $2,400 maybe a little more with new studs. I am contemplating the center rise style just to get rid of the extra gasket.

I am also considering HI TEK stainless manifolds. I really dont like the idea of spending twice the amount of money on these, but they do have there advantages and I plan on keeping this boat for a long time. I figure in ten years these will have paid for themselves. I also like the idea of a manifold that will outlast the engines. Not to mention the fact they weigh 25% of the OE manifolds. I havent seen any recent posts of anyone running these on a chrysler and was wondering if any of you have gone this route.

Any input is appreciated
Keep in mind, performance gains are not of any concern, just reliability and longevity.

I have one of those tubes I bought and will never use ,check your PM's
Stainless manifolds aren't worth it especially if you run in freshwater, you could get 7-8 years in fresh, osco has a 3 year warranty in the salt

I Think im just gonna go with the standard cast iron manifolds. I wonder if installing some pencil zincs in the manifolds would help a little?

Hey Will – I think you’re leaning in the right directiongoing with standard/cast manifolds. Since you’ve stated that performance gainsare not the goal, you shouldn’t give a second thought to the cost of theHiTeks. If you checked out akjon’s link to John Hamilton’s project, you’ll seethat there were a lot of other modifications that warranted a freer-flowingexhaust. In other words, even if you were, in fact, looking for some performancegains, you probably wouldn’t notice the difference without other/complementary performancemodifications (heads, intake, etc.).

Yea I really liked the idea of having stainless just because I run in very salty water (pacific ocean) and the boat is stored in the water. But twice the cost is a lot. Im hoping i can get 5-6 years out of the replacements. And going faster while nice, is not my goal in this boat.
