"I have recieved a new cast iron manifold and it seem very, very heavy in weight.Im pretty sure the original manifold is Aluminium. My question is will this present any problems.also I note in the manifold kit there is a small brass adaptor that screws into the manifold where the water intake is .do you know what thats for,or is it a drain cock for the manifold, because i did not get one of these.is it important to fit this or do i gust block it of.Thanks"

"Stan, both the Volvo and the Sierra manifolds I have used in the past in OHC Volvo engines are cast iron, so you should not have any problems.

If I remember correctly, those manifolds have room for a petcock (to drain water) and for a brass plug where you can install a short zinc anode. However, you can replace the petcock with a brass plug if you wish."

"Thanks for that. Also is there any other things i should look out for when installing the new manifold, such as o'ring/seals.and is there a sequence for the bolts to be tighened in and the bolts that hold the manifold on what PSI should I tighen them to.Thanks"

"No o-rings or seals, just the exhaust manifold gaskets and the inlet water gasket.

Regarding the bolts torque. I recall the bolt size is about 5/16" (please verify this) in which case the tightening torque should be 12-14 ft.lb. Don't forget to coat the bolts with non-copper anti-zeize moly or "perfect seal" compound before installing them, it will make their removal much easier in the future."
