Exhaust housing

I'm tired of "so called boat mechanics", I am needing some info on how to remove the exhaust housing. Does the powerhead need to be removed to take off exhaust housing?

A boat mechanic would need to know if you are working on a 2 HP or 300 HP motor.----Model # of your motor ?------Your location.------I would say that the powerhead has to come of on most motors !!

Perhaps these folks are very good " boat mechanics "-----But they are tired of phone calls from folks looking for " do it yourself " information.----I remember those calls asking for correct sparkplug / plug gap / year model / what prop / what oil mix etc , etc.-----I am going to be blunt and say that the boat shops are not a version of ----" dial a prayer " ------Boat shops exist to help folks with money to spend.---So they can pay the bills.

Well when I pay very hard earned money to somebody that has a business, I don't expect crappy work. For example, last week before i went on vacation, I had the water pump changed on my 200hp evinrude, plus some other service done. So me and my son get up one morning to go fish, and we are running down the lake and the engine starts vibrating very bad. So I shut the engine off and raise the motor, only to come to find out that ALL of the bolts have came out of the lower unit, only thing holding it onto the motor was the shift linkage. So I paid my bill to the business, I don't need your smart ***** comment!!!

I would say take it back to the shop.------They should help you.-------Good luck with it !-----Somehow the information in post #4 is TOTALLY different than your question in post #1 ----Yes you have to remove the powerhead.-------So there.

What you don't understand, is it messed up the exhaust housing where the bolts were! It actually broke the front part of the exhaust housing. So I wasn't "dialing a prayer"!!!

How do you back flush the power head ?

What do you need to take off or remove ?

Air or water pressure where ?

My engine is overheating and i am pretty sure there is a blockage

Thank you in advance for your help

( 40hp 402 , i think a 1979 )

vjames----I guess I missed the picture, hp and extent of the damage in post #1 here.------Good luck with it.------It is more than a 10 minute fix.
