Exhaust Housing Seal Ring

I purchased a new exhaust housing seal ring last December from MarineEngines.com When installing it today it broke. It has to stretch to get on and I tried to be easy but it broke. How's the best way to install this ring and is there anything I can do with the broken one?

It sounds as if it was the wrong one. I just replaced mine during a waterpump replacement and it slides on easily. Mine is a 225hp V6 so maybe yours is a different design for your engine type.

I think it's the correct one, just a NOS part and old rubber I believe is the problem.

As a patch job you could try some 3M 847 sealer to hold it in.

They sent me a new one and it went on fine. When working with 40+ year old rubber parts it can be tough when they deteriorate.
