Excessive smoke

I just changed the oil in my 1988 5.7 350 and now there is excessive smoke coming out of the pcv valves! This was not happening before I did the oil change. I used Castrol GTX 10w-40. What could be causing this? Help?!

I put in 5 quarts, but I just pumped out a little because it was about 1/8" above the full line on the stick. Will it take a while for it to burn off after I lowered the level?
