" 1985 model E6rcde,went up river& hit a rock.Lower
end has prop guard 4 protection.No outide damage at all. Runs fine in nuetral and low speed,in higher speed i am now getting a hard miss or knock that got progressively worse on the ride back to the dock.Tore lower unit down,no damage 2 the gears or shaft.Any ideas? "

Wrist pin bearing? Pull the p

Wrist pin bearing? Pull the plugs and insert a screw driver. You turn the flywheel by hand and turn it past top dead center. As the piston is being pulled to bottom dead center you stop turning the flywheel. You now push on the piston with the screw driver if you feel too much movement it is play in the wrist pin or the big end bearing.

" Have the clutch dog gears looked at. Not just the reverse side, but the forward side too. My motor did same and it sorta shakes the boat with a jerk. Progressively got worse.
