"Richard, probably a little less than you think - a 9.9 often times will bring in more money.

An 88 is still a fairly (new) outboard. It is well built/modern ignition etc. But the 90 horse is starting to go out of style.

In 88 a 90 was a "big" motor - now a 150 is considered "mid sized" - OMC/BRP is releasing the 300 ETEC this year - guys want big motors.

However, back to your question. I have seen similar vintage motors go in the 500-1000 range, depending on how "pretty" they are and how they are running...."

"Richard, that was the end of it...

Cosmetic (looks), running or not, and the compression numbers are selling points for a motor.

Also, depending on the time of the year. You generally get more money for a used outboard in the spring (when guys are "re-rigging") than say in the fall when they are looking to store their boats."
