Evinrude VRO question

50hp 1995 evinrude.. was idling rough, using 1 gallon oil for 20 gallons gas.. all of a sudden buzzer comes on beeps every other couple seconds. It's still using oil, but all of a sudden not smoking like it was and now its running great. It's not solid. Buzzer, so eliminated overheating possibility.. there's no fuel issue, so I think it's the oil side warning on the vro.. Should I just replace the vro?

Well----I would first take the VRO apart to see if there is something obvious.----Or install a non mixing pump as a test first.-----Everybody has a different approach to repair /. trouble shooting.-----Maybe the oil filter in the tank is plugged !!!
