Evinrude super fast twin top speed issue

Have a evinrude super fast twin and the motor runs pretty well but it doesn’t have much on the top end? Is that a tuning issue I just got the motor and got it running and have not messed with the tuning at all. Any suggestions? Fires up 1st or 2nd pull. Looks like these motors cruise right along so trying to troubleshoot the top end problem. Thanks

Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more on both leads , yes or no ?-----Running with a pressure tank or something else ?-------Compression test done ?

Has pressurized tank I am not super familiar with boat motors so haven’t checked the spark jump and no compression test

Classic story heard every day. USUAL cause is running on one cylinder. That motor DOES have bad coils unless they have already been replaced. Yeah, check compression to make sure you have something worth messing with, then pull the flywheel and look for cracked coils, even if you have spark.

Year??? If you are not sure, you can search the boat engine parts section at the top of the page and plug in your engines motor number to determine the year and horsepower. Some of these motors have a glass fuel bowl with a filter enclosed. Those filters tend to clog and are often a source of top end fuel starvation. Engine diagrams will also appear in the boat parts section.
