"I am having a problem getting

"I am having a problem getting this engine to fire. I have changed the coil and condensor, put in new plugs, new selenoid,and cleaned the fuel pump and the carb's. It tries to fire, but then shuts off. The bendix in the starter kick out as soon as it feels the engine try to start, but the engine is not starting. I will accept any help I can get, and I need to find a shop manual for it too. I am sure that would be very helpful.

Watch which solonoid you put i

Watch which solonoid you put in there as the automotive will "short out" as soon as you hit the key and the marine will "ground" to the neutral switch and work properly.

That big short (with the wrong part) will draw the voltage down so the ignition won't fire.

You will want to know what the starter is drawing for amps. There are some good meters for diagnostic which do that. The battery voltage is also an indication of the starter draw and battery condition.

Mine would do that sometimes too. What position do you have the choke in when starting? Sometimes I have to close mine to get it going. Auto just doesn't always cut it..
