"Hey James,

your model numb

"Hey James,

your model number breaks down as follows:

A - Austrailian built
E - Evinrude
6 - horsepower
BA - AC Lighting model - Rope start
CD - 1986 model
E - model run suffix (no meaningful data)

Your compression sounds low, but may simply be the way your gauge reads - I would expect somewhat above 90 psi on each cylinder for a motor of this size and age..."

hi graham thanks for the info

hi graham thanks for the info on year model.comp on both 55psi probly a bit low [done teaspoon oil in both cylnds but never raised comp].i thought 55psi on both would be good enough for engine to start. thanks

"Yes, decarb wouldn't hurt

"Yes, decarb wouldn't hurt - but I would still be suspect of the gauge.

I have 2 gauges. On the same powerhead one reads 65 psi the other reads 95 psi - which is correct? Neither one - tried yet a third gauge (one calibrated at a local small engine place) and get readings of 100 (cold)..."
