Evinrude models

I am looking at used boats and have heard several stories about Evinrude/Johnson engines to stay away from. Is there some models that have problems in general, and should not be considered?

I have heard Fitch engines are unreliable, and the Etec engines have powerhead failures. I'm not that familiar with all the models, and rumors.
