"This motor runs real good as long as you don't shut it off after it is warmed up.Then it starts but will only run at idle.After an hour or so it will start and run again.The carb. has been rebuilt ,the coil has been replaced and the water pump has been replaced.I have been told that the ignition module could be bad but I hate to spend $343.00 just to see if that fixes it.Has anybody had this problem that could give me some info.This is a 2000 motor."

"It might be the thermostat.

"It might be the thermostat. I was having as similar problem where my 15 wasn't performing up to the top speed it should be so I took out the thermostat and tried it, it works fine. Just have to install a new one now."

"I do not belive the thermostat is responsible if it runs well without overheating but since you ask it is #10 in this diagram, near the top but is located where the dotted line indicates on the (nearest) side of the cylinder block
