Evinrude Lightwin 3hp Drive Pin

Hello All,

I'm new to this forum and hope that someone can give me advice. The propeller drive shaft on my 1963 Lightwin 3hp has approx. 1/4 inch forward/backward play and I worry about it not fully contacting the drive shaft pinion. I've removed the propeller shaft bearing housing and have read that there's a shear pin that can be replaced, but I can't seem to get the drive clutch hub off the propeller shaft. Does it just slide off? Unscrew? It seems to be fairly well attached. Thanks in advance!

http://www.ehow.com/how_6833829_replace-pin-evinrude-outboard-motor.html there is a groove in the rear of the prop.. the sheer pin that is thru the shaft that the prop fits over...take the nut off and slide the prop off and you should see it...if you replace the sheer pin and the motor drives the boat i would just run it...you are getting into something that may not be broke and if you damage something you may run into a parts availability problem...

So it sounds like the clutch hub sits over the drive pin? The clutch hub, you see, is "stuck" on the drive shaft so that all I can see of the shaft is the threads. When I say "stuck", it might come off with some tapping, pulling, etc., I just didn't want to possibly destroy the hub if it was held in place by something. Thanks.
