when i took the carb off of th

when i took the carb off of the motor the litlle needle valve fell out and onto the ground (took a while to locate)in my rebuild kit there is a new needle and a small spring. how does this spring go on and which way should the needle sit in the chamber? the motor is a 1960 lark ll 40 horse

"Notice the needle valve has a groove around the top area. The spring's small clip end snaps around that groove, then the other longer end goes over the metal portion of the float assembly.

When installed properly, as the float drops, that small spring will pull down the needle valve. This is to help avoid any sticking needle valve problem."
