Evinrude inner exhaust gasket install help!!!

I have a 1991 Evinrude V6 175HP Crossflow. I am replacing the inner exhaust gasket. I noticed that once installed, the exhaust filler blocks (one of each side) mating surface are not flush to the gasket mating surface of the block.

So my question is will this affect the inner exhaust gasket from sealing properly? Tips?

Did you check the fit before installing?
The gasket sticking out should not affect the sealing. .
