hi i have a 140 evinrude vro w

hi i have a 140 evinrude vro when the motor is idling at the dock its ruinng on all cylinders when i go out and go pass half throttle the #1 cylinder will cut out this problem was jumping around and now is staying at the #1 it was #3 then went to #4 now staying at #1 i changed all coils rebuilt the carbs checked the reeds new plugs and wires head gasket power pack and compression is 150 in all four I neeeeeeeeed help!!!!!!!!! cant figure this out could this be a bad timer base. the motor has very strong spark but just drops random cylinders ALSO once in a while whlie running at wot with 3 cylinders the forth cylinder will kick in for a minute then cut ALSO at idle the motor will slowly drop its rpms till it dies some times. PLEASE HELP anybody thanks!!!!!!!!!

"It sounds like a fuel pressure problem. What does the sparks look like? Try to run it on a separate fuel tank, by-pass the VRO and just use the primer bulb as pump. Remember to run on 2% mix!"

thanks for the post i am getti

thanks for the post i am getting plenty of fuel to that cylinder plug is wet i also tried pumping the ball while at wot and the vro pump is by passed put a bolt in the hose

"'Wet' plug indicates

"'Wet' plug indicates no combustion. If the ignition works that is caused by either lack of fuel or lack of temperature! How is your thermostatsystem? Put your hands on top of the block -the temp should be even at both banks. If possible borrow an ignition timing light preferrably with a built in rev counter. Check the rev-signal on each sylinder. A double reading may indicate a double fireing power pack (defective).
Be sure you have the Champion Q (supressor)plugs installed, use of R (resistor) (NGK) may cause trouble and even kill the power pack!
Finally check the resirculation hooses and check valves."

i changed the powerpack and th

i changed the powerpack and the same thing happend i there is fuel and spark at idle but 1/2 throttle still have gas sucking into the cylinder but the spark cuts out does any know the symptomas of a bad timer base or a bad stator
thanks

OMC has a nasty history of loo

OMC has a nasty history of loose magnets on the flywheels. Have you had it off for inspection?

"As you still seems to be hook

"As you still seems to be hooked to a faulty ignition, test it properly. The best is to use a timing light, and a test propeller. Then You may run the boat at the dock without prop trust at full speed.
Mark your flywheel 1-2-3-4- where the pistons are at the top. Start the engine and point the lamp at the timing pointer. When hooked to 1, you will see the 1 mark at the ignition pointer. Rev up the engine and note if you have a steady reading.Note that the timing will advance, but concentrate on missing ignition. Check that you only see the mark at one place on the flywheel (moove the lamp around the flywheel).Do the same whith each sylinder (2,3,4). If there is continous signal from you light and no double indication, your ignition is OK.
Welcome back when you have done this."

"Sounds odd, but at what rpm?

"Sounds odd, but at what rpm? Is your alarm horn working? If not it may be the slow function kicking in.Disconnect the brown wires to the powerpack.
If problem exist borrow if possible a stevens 77 instrument an run a voltage check of the power pack innput, both timer signals and charge. However it may be as smple as a 'broken' wire from the timer base that looses connection when the wire is bent when mooving the throtle lever."

what year and modle have s.l.o

what year and modle have s.l.o.w featured in them and when the boats was idleing at the dock the over heat busser went off but it was pissing like crazy new theromstates
