" Joe, I keep hearing everyone talking about decarbing their motors. I have a 1997 Evinrude 225 Vindicator that I purchased new in 1998 so I know the engine has never been decarbed. Is this some type of maintenance I should be performing regularly or possibly yearly? What are the benefits? If I need to do this, what product(s) should I purchase to do the job? Currently, the engine runs great, starts easy and never stalls or misses out. In fact, I am still running the original spark plugs that came in the engine, even though I double oiled thoughout the break in time. I was thinking about changing the plugs for no other reason than the fact that they are going on 4 years old. But I kind of hate to change somethng that is working so well. I guess at the very least I might improve my mileage by swapping out the plugs. I would like to hear your response on the decarb process and if you think I need to change plugs. Thanks in advance. "
