Exactly my problem

Greetings
Exactly my problem of a few days ago on a 9hp johson workhorse before using fairy liquid and a hose.
From the upper exhaust hole a fine spray increasing with engine revs to a heavy spray sufficient to have a noticeable vertical water flow.
From the two vent holes in front of the upper exhaust hole and just higher on the shaft two flows of water equalling around 2" horizontal in length.Water flow pulses with the impellor and is not constant however even after testing for a half hour run in a tank the water in all three areas is just warm enough not to want to keep your hand there for long.
There may well be a water flow from the lower exhaust which is underwater on my engine.
Hope that helps.

Anthony

I have just purchased this engine through ebay and I understand that it was made for the third world market and was considered almost indestructable with a 15 hp engine married to a 60's drive unit.( hammer proof)Any more info would be appreciated.

thanks but does any one know i

thanks but does any one know if i should get a steady flow of water out of the tube from the engine block or not as i am trying to determine if the impeler reqiures attention thanks

"Yes, you should get a steady

"Yes, you should get a steady stream of water from the pee tube. If not, first try poking a wire up there in case the outlet is clogged.

There should be a spray out of the exhaust hole too, but may not see if running on hose flusher.

Good advice is to change impeller right away - then you will be good to go for a long time. Best insurance!

Also, check compression now, so you know what to compare to later."
