Evinrude Carb welch plug damage questions!

I have a 1976 135HP twin carb V4 that I am trying to get running. Last year I put a carb kit in it and drilled out the welch plugs in order to clean those smaller holes. I drilled in too deep and nicked the area will the drill, but replaced it with a new plug and believe it to be sealed. If there is damage underneath that plug, will that affect performance? or is it a non-factor. Thanks

If you just nicked the aluminum...similar to a scratch = No problem.

If you drilled a hole through the aluminum of the carburetor or damaged a existing hole... yeah that's a problem!

Next time, just use a punch in the middle of the core plug, cave it in a little, makes it smaller, lift it out
