High idle 1700 RPM, will not idle down even when adjusted at the throttle starwheel.

In the last year the gasoline has seen alot of water. Last week was the second time in a year. Drained the carbs and fuel lines, replace the fuel water seperator, and fuel. Naturally the motor ran terrible before cleaning up the fuel, but now the issue is high idle.

Removed the carb air horn cover and gas is laying in the carb air horns, so I suspect flooding due to the repeated water intrusion. Is there anything else that can cause the high idle?

Engine starts & runs fine except for 1700 idle.

Old style carburators. With NO electrical choke solenoids ?

Where are you getting so much water from ?? That is a serious problem over time.

Water in the tanks where you buy gas ? You use a rag to seal your fuel tanks ? Buying gas same day or 2 after the underground tanks are refilled ?

Buying cheap gas from a " friend " ?

Have / do you know how to adjust the carburators idle screws & gearshift / idle speed screws if equipped with them ?
