Evinrude 88- High Idle Issue

I recently acquired an Evinrude 88. The motor starts easily and runs but idles at around 2000 rpm on muffs. Is there an easy way to back down the idle? In the photo attached the adjustment screw with the green arrow does not always come back to rest on the mount when put into neutral it is about half an inch off. Does this need adjustment?

The roller shown with the red arrow also seems to be "loose" inside the throttle lever. Does this need to be/Can this be tightened up?

Any help is appreciated!

The cable from the remote control should pull the idle stop screw to the stop. Adjust the black barrel on the cable mount until it pulls it to the stop without binding (preloading) it to the point of breaking something.

The green screw typically will not be screwed in until the head hits the arm, thus leaving some future adjustment. But when everything is adjusted the end of screw will hit the stop with remote control at idle.

Adjusting idle needs to be accomplished in the lake with the engine sitting its normal depth for exhaust back pressure. Probably needs to be done in steps: slow engine down to approximate idle speed then SLOWLY adjust each idle mixture screw to the point of max idle & then back out (CCW) about 1/4 th turn.
At this point you may need to readjust green screw to slow idle a bit.

NOTE: carburetors throttle plates must be fully closed at idle. The green screw adjusts minimun timing thus slowing idle.

So long as red stud in slot has the roller on it is ok. There will be some slop in the slot.
