Evinrude '81 60hp half power output

Hi everyone.

I have a 1981 2-stroke 60hp evinrude outboard. It has been going fine except yesterday I took it out and immediately realized I only have half power at full throttle. I put it in neutral and pushed the choke up and it revved at full rpm. However when I put it in gear I only have half power. Today I noticed a black thick oil coming out of the top of the leg. I drained the oil from the bottom of the leg and it came out milky. Can anyone help.

In a situation like yours ( no power )---------------You need to start with a compression test. If that is OK then check to see if you have spark that will jump a gap of 7/16" or better at each plug.--------No point doing anything else.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will check spark plugs and power packs and see if that gets it running smoother. Thank u for your help
