first time boat owner! where do I find the alternator for my 1987 evinrude 70hp mortor. I would like to get a battery charger to run both my crank and trolling motor but don't know where to hook it up to the alternator.

are you talking about one of those switches?.....if so you will probably have to hook it through the regulator

heres a link for a wiring diagram.....it says its for a '96 but as long as your eng has the big red plug under the hood it will be the same

are you going to install one of those switches that lets you charge 2 different batts?

ive seen them but dont know anybody who has one and didnt know how much trouble they would be......i would like to have one so i can charge my trolling batts when my starter batt is in good shape........i hate runnin out of juice for the trolling motor when im navigating through stump fields in the dark.......its happened to me before."
