"i have just baught my first b

"i have just baught my first boat it came with a 70 hp evinrude for some reason the motor will not run for more than 30 minutes at best it runs perfectly fine then seems to be either starved or restircted in some way. once it stops it seems as though the timing is out and will not start. after letting it cool for several hours it will start again not a problem only to run for 30 mins then die again.this was 2 days ago
today i have checked fuel lines/filters, spark leads/plugs, positive and negative lead connection points, battery terminals/connectivity
also between the large wheel/gear on top of the motor and the smaller starter gear, sparks severly when turning over"

"sounds to me like its overheating,and u need to see if that starter is loose,or at the least ,needs a new bendix...."

"pull the spark plugs and see if u can rotate the flywheel,easily,...then try a compression test.just because its a new to u rig,i'd chg the complete wtr pump kit,...so u know where u r,and for record of future maint..."

"yeap pulled the starter off today disassembled it, trashed bushes had fallen out copper wires broken and all over the place melted. befor i found this i had the plugs out and the motor turns over flat out but i havent had a compression test as yet also what is a bendix??"
