"1991 evinrude 70 3 cyl. is there any way to check for broken piston rings with out stripping the motor.getting 120 psi on all cyl,s with comp tester. but when i turn the motor by hand and put my finger over each plug hole in turn there,s a big difference on the top one, seems less pressure than the other two. Ged"

"i,ve posted the prob quite a bit before JW, but here it is, on the water it will only reach 1500 rpm at wot.four winns freedom 150 boat only light. new[ head gasket,ignition control unit, plugs, carbs cleaned all jets clear, floats set as per manual, reeds look ok,vro pump stripped and all diaphragms good. coils jumping 7/16 on cranking spark. even swapped top coil for bottom, same.starts perfect and ticks over ok. please come up with a remedy. thanks Ged"

the bottom two plugs were a ni

the bottom two plugs were a nice brown colour the top one was grayish.
