"I have gotten advice on here concerning this motor in times past. Need more. I took the motor to a mechanic who thought he could work on it...but he can't. So far I have purchased new points,distributor cap, and amplifier...,compression is 125-130... mechanic said it is shooting fire out from all around the distributor cap instead of getting to the plugs, he gives up and said come get it I owe him for no labor. Anybody willing to work on it?I'll put it on a truck and ship it to ya."

"very common prob,on all those old dist cap,engines...best to find a local,older fellow that knows well,about that system,...a boat shop,prob wont let u in the door...and know one there would have a clue...."

"and,..same goes for that lower unit,..if u would happen upon the chance,...get a 74 or ltr 3 cyl...pref,the ltr,the better...i do not recommend spending money,on that eng,..."
